I'm going to order a MagnaPack setup today and also want to get a midpipe. Which midpipe should I go with? It will be catted because I heard it gets too raspy with an O/R pipe w/ the packs (lack of backpressure).

I've been looking at the MRT Catted H-Pipe and the Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe. I cannot decide between these 2. I know theres been a ton of threads on this, but is it worth the extra horses to go with the X pipe over the H? THe H seems to have a deeper more I'm going to beat your face in tone, but I have never heard an X in person, so I'm not sure if I'll like it or not.

Also, what else will I need to do the install? A new exhaust gasket for header->midpipe and loctite for the exhaust tips right? Let me know if I need anything else besides standard tools so I don't have to run to the store with open headers after I drop the exhaust. I've heard of people having to put 2 gaskets back to back with the magnaflow x because of fitment issues so I want to make sure I'll be set with everything before I start.

Thanks.

P.S. If you don't like my choice of midpipes, tell me what you would go with and explain why you like it pls! If you like it purely cause of the sound, can you describe what kind of sound your midpipe added to your current catback? Thanks again!

The prochamber sounds pretty good with the Magnapacks. It is a little cheaper than the MRT catted H-pipe. Either way I think some type of H-pipe will sound good.

I voted for the magnaflow catted x-pipe since you already have the Magnaflow muffs. Its usually best for sound to keep as much of the exhuaust stuff as you can in the same brand.

I do agree though that the prochamber sounds and perfroms pretty nicely as I should know cause I have it. Then again, I have an entire Mac setup, not just one part here or there. The decision will be yours, but personally, I advise the catted x-pipe from Magnaflow. Can't go wrong with it.

You already know my preference (see sig).

BTW - Give this "how-to" guide a look-see prior to the install:

It may be a good idea to purchase a new "exhaust-manifold-to-Hpipe" gasket at the dealership, should cost $10 or so.

The tools below are important to have!

15mm mid-length (not deep or shorty!) socket.
7/8ths open end wrench (to remove the O2 sensors).
Wobbles & drive extensions.

I have to vote for the MRT. It is more expensive, but your getting a quality piece and it is stainless too!

Def. get the MRT catted hpipe, sounds so badass wit magnapacks, i get compliments left and right with it. Besides the hpipe sound is always better then the xpipe, and even if the xpipe gives a little bit more hp, the sound makes up for it.

All ordered Magnaflow magnapacks for $322 shipped from completeexhaust.com and $460 shipped for MRT catted H pipe from ninosport.com

Both vendors were very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend them if you are looking for an exhaust setup. Give them a call though to get a better deal then their website.
