Just installed a 93 Cobra intake, new lifters, and new pushrods. I replaced the intake gasket with a Felpro 1250 using RTV for the end seals.

When I started the car, its running a little rough, I think I have a small vaccum leak somewhere. After idling for about 5-10 min, it started to smoke from the exhaust pipes.

I checked and it doesnt smell like burning oil, just smells of exhaust. The smoking will be faily consistant for a few min, then it will lighten up some. I also noticed that sometimes it seems to come more from one tail pipe than the other, then it will alternate.

Oil is clean as is the anti freeze so I dont think I have a gasket issue.

Also, does not smoke on initail start up, just after a few minutes of idling.

Any ideas?

hmm, seems like it is one of those irritatingly simple things. i helped a guy do a rebuild once and he accidentally put a gasket on with the wrong side facing up and therefore didn't have all the coolant holes lined up between the two mating surfaces. the car did all kinds of wierd stuff, like leaking, poor economy and loss of power etc until he broke it back down to find the problem. hopefully your problem is something that simple.

I went out and checked my plugs. These reading are only after sitting and idling for about 10 min with a few stationary revs.

Cyl 1 & 2 look good,
Cyl 3 & 4 look lean ( electrode is very white)
Cyl 5 & 6 concern me. Both were wet with oil on the electrode and threads
Cyl 7 Looks lean
Cyl 8 Looks good

Why would I have oil on the spark plugs of cyl 5 & 6? all I changed was the intake and I didnt have this issue prior to the intake swap.

Someone tell me its something that wont require removing the Lower intake again.

I checked the lower intake, there is a baffle, I rememberd to put the mesh screen under the PCV valve also.

If it was a PCV issue, wouldnt it affect all the plugs?

I am thinking maybe a lower intake gasket issue since the 2 plugs with oil on them are side by side.
