Well, trying to take apart the engine this week for the PI swap and I ran into a few small problems. I just want to know what these parts are, and how to remove them.

In the first picture, I just need to know what that part is, and if thats the nut to remove the thing.

In the second picture, I need to know if I can just pull that hose off of there or what? It seems like there is no line between the hose and the upper plenum. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. I want to try and get at least the upper plenum off tonight.

Yes the nut in the first picture does come off, just loosen it up and remove it. It deal with exhaust I believe and in the 2nd pic you can just pull that hose off. Just did an intake swap on my car last week

the hose with the red lines is the vacuum tubes. use a wrench and twist the black part back and forth a little bit to loosen it up. then just pull it off.

first pic is of the EGR valve. the nut does come off, soak it in PB blaster to help loosen it.

in the first pic thats a egr valve. don't remove it from the pipe you should have pleanty of room with it in there. if you remove it you will break it unless you heat up the nut on the egr tube...

Instead of removing the EGR valve, pull your altenater instead. Then slide your manifold toward the front of the car and out. It's easier.
