alright...so i was looking through some threads and i noticed someone talk about this guy wayne s who is pretty much stock with an 03 gt and is running high 12's!!!!! Now i'm not completely stock...i have 4.10's, transgo shift kit, steeda u/d pullies and timing adjuster, k&n, frpp shorty headers---o/r h-pipe---two chamber 40's (flows), FULL cobra/brembo brake conversion, eibach springs---reflex shocks/struts---kenny brown subframe package---MAC c/c plates....and it's a VERT....just to give you an idea of lbs of put on lately. so what could i add/remove/replace to get my overweight vert to speed up a little. if anyone is as knowledgeable in this field as that man please help me out ( i love my vert but i want it to be lighter with out ripping all of the interior out....i just got '03 cobra seats black leather grey suede inserts

Remove the spare tire and jack, drain all oil and coolant (those liquids are HEAVY!). To really get the weight down you might want to consider an engine and windshield wiper delete...

Also, aluminum Driveshaft and fiberglass hood? I think the biggest things though are the wheels and any other rotational weight/mass (driveshaft/clutch)

Im just gonna guess that the guy running high 12's in the 'almost stock' GT wasnt a vert. and probaly had a 5 speed. Weight wise the biggest setback is it being a convertable, dont they weigh almost 200lbs more? The next item holding you back is the auto tranny.. throw a stall converter on there youll notice a big difference with that and the shift kit.
