Today I finally got my H pipes that I had orderd a week ago along with the MILs to do this bolt on. I opened the box, a fairly big box, and what I found is that the pipes are in two seperate pieces, ie, the middle is not connected. Now when I order it I was under the impression that it was a 1 piece unit. It clearly read that it was a bolt on item. From where I am standing right now it does not seem like a bolt on item. By the way the h-pipe is made by mac.

Also, I got the MILs but I got no instructions. Can someone provide me with instructions for those since I am new at this as well.

My question is this? Is it common to get this item in two seperate pieces and then have to go out and buy a joining pipe for the middle or have it welded? Or did I get the wrong part.

My car is a 03 GT.

is it off road or catted? and I believe they come with a clamp if I'm not mistaken, although welding it is always the better choice, then it makes it a one piece. Wish you were near me, I would weld it up for ya for nothing. good luck :nice:

I had the exact same question a while back. I got the MAC H pipe for my 03 GT in two pieces. One side slips over the other. I was told by someone on here that sliding one into the other would be sufficient. I tried it and it seemed to be ok. I did have it welded by a friend that works at a muffler shop just to be sure there wouldnt be any "wigglin" around in the future.

What type of MIL's did you get? If you got the plug in type, you simply plug them in. If you got the splice in ones, you can find installation instructions here: http://www.mileliminators.com/installation.html If you got them from somewhere else, the wire colors may be different, but you should be able to figure it out from the diagram.

Thanks for the offer. Its the offRoad . By the way it didnt come with any clamps. I guess I will have to go out and get the clamps. Cause I dont know of anyone that will weld them for me.

yeah it's common for them to come in 2 pieces. It's merely for an easier installation and for proper fitment. It should just bolt on w/ the same fittings as the other connections. With the MIL's, They just plug in between the sensor plug and the ECM control plug. You may have to cut off the tabs on one of the MIL's to fit it into the right side of the H-Pipe sensor. Oh, I would also suggest taping the Mil's up for extra insurance and tuck them away from the pipes. Hope this helps, It'll sound awesome.

The MILs are the pluggin type. I am going to look at the instructions on the URL that you gave me now. Thanks for the link.

So here is another question for you. On the stock H-pipes is there a clamp of some sort in the middle. I havent had a chance to get under the car yet or is it welded toghether?

The stock one is a 1 solid piece across the H. The one you have has the H split in 2 right? Well, one side is slightly larger and fits into the other. You can either leave it as is, get it welded, or stop by a muffler shop and get a clamp for a few bucks. The last option will probably be the easiest.

Its bad enough when a pipe doesnt fit just right when it is in two peices.....if it were one peice, and didnt bolt up just perfect, you would be cursing the day you got it... Ive had both however (o/r and catted) and the offroad obviously fits easier b/c you dont have to jack w/ the cat placement.....BTW when you first hear it.......you will have a silly grin on your face for a while!! :D
