I installed my new clutch today and have a question on proper release bearing install. Does any one have any pics of proper bearing install on the fork? I just want to get this right. Does the bearing sit between the fork and spring retainer clip?
Hissin50, I did a search under his user name and came up with alot of post but none with pics. The only reason I am questioning the installation of the TO is because when I install the T5 it slides in all the way except for about 1/2 and inch it stops and refuses to go no further. I even re-checked clutch alignment again and all seems well.
Uh yeah, I agree with 4G. If this is a trans insertion issue, it's not the TOB but the pilot bearing (like pork, it's "the other" white meat, err I mean...... bearing).
And apologies about the picture thing. I am quite sure that he's posted a nice TOB (but not a pilot bearing) picture before (I thought it was a nice reference and it stuck in my mind). But either: he took it down, it went away in the crash, or I took two blue and one red pill when I should have taken two red and one blue pill.
You can spin the input shaft just a hair and it might help you seat the trans.

Well, I got it in now. Looks like I just needed some balls to get the outer part of the TO retainer into the bellhousing. I got everything put back together and out of my garage around 8est and took it for a test drive and all seems well.
