I am thinking about painting the stang myself. I remember a long time ago Oink painted his 01gt by himself and it came out great. Can you guys tell me what kind of base coat, paint, and any other solvents I would need to complete my project? I am determined to do this, it means a great deal to me. I am planning to make to the NMRA's in bradenton in March. This is what stands in my way.

also any links to places that sell the products would also help.

thanks

Honestly if you've never painted or prepped a car before I'd leave it to a professional. I know you're determined but spending all that time and money on paint only to mess it up really isn't worth it. Practice painting a section of your engine bay.

Honestly, I have painted a few cars...and it is a PITA...there are alot of tools you'll need, not to mention a place to paint it.

On the other hand, if it's something you want to learn for future projects then go for it. There is a wealth of information on the internet and, most paint supply stores will help you through the whole process. I was terrified of my first project, but now after having done it, it's not so bad.

Oil and grease are your enemy, you need to wash that car down a lot! And there's pre-cleaning/prep spray you can get that will help keep fish eyes down. Check out Eastwood.com they have lots of paint supplies and information. Good Luck! Make sure you post up some pics after you paint it!

I prepped my car, but did not spray it myself

you may want to look into having someone else spray it for you
