OK so I spent this past weekend doing some much needed work on the stang and I'm more or less done tooling around with the drivetrain for a while. However, I am finally going to install the 5 lug swap & cobra brakes that I've been planning on doing for the past year and a half and I figure its a good time to also tackle the suspension a bit. My car does/will see some drag strip time, but is primarily street driven (not daily). I'm not really concerned with weight transfer but I also don't want an all out road race set up. I'm looking for a decent handling set up for the street that will still hook ok. I currently have a stock V8 suspension minus the quad shocks and some lakewood LCA's. I also don't want to lower the car too much.. maybe 3/4 of an inch or so. I was thinking about maybe some bullit springs, MM panhard bar, keeping the lakewood LCA's, and adding some strut tower braces. I'm not sure which shocks/struts I'll get, and if a coil over set up it worthwhile. I hear lots of mixed things about the coil overs and how they put a lot of stress on the strut towers. Anyway, I'm no where near a suspension expert and was hoping someone can help. I'm not in a rush, but want to start piecing things together soon. Thanks..

i have a pretty basic setup at the moment, see sig. i have the same goal as you do as far as how i want my car to handle/hook. my tokico's are nice, but i'm going to try out swapping the shocks out for strange 10 way adjustables. that way i can set them up for daily driving, and soften them up for when i need to hook. i've heard nothing but good about them. maybe something to look into.

I have the Strange 10-way shocks/struts on my car, and my gripe is that they get REALLY bouncy if you crank up the stiffness. I mean I feel like I'm in one of those riced out, slammed Hondas. I have to keep the setting down to 2 or 3 for daily driving to avoid the bouncing, which is what they recommend for drag racing.

well the panhard will help with axle snap but do little for the drag strip, and ive never heard coil overs putting too much stress on the shock towers to the point of failure, but in a mostly street driven car i dont think you'll gain much except being able to slam the car when you want to, so i say keep your lowers, get a good set of sub frame connectors, bilstein shocks and struts and a panhard and you'll be set

Im running eibach sportline springs and they are a little on the stiff side but I expected that with these and I'm also running strange adjustable shocks and struts and they ride decent havent had any issues or complaints here. My best 60 foot at the track was a 1.7 and I'm sure I can do better with better tires for the track (managed that with a 26x8.5 slick and spinning). Im also running a MM panhard bar, but I mainly got it since I have wide wheels and tires in the rear to prevent minimal side to side rear end movement. The MM full length SFC welded also made a HUGE difference on the body flex that I noticed after the install.
