So i bought a van today, a 84 ford club wagon for $100. It has 87,000 orginal miles, and only one bad spot on the body. 351w that runs good, holley carb, c6, 9" rear. Now i bought this thing to pimp it out for awhile as cheap as possible, then probably sell it or part it out. I plan on doing a quickie cheapo home paintjob, putting in some sorta carpet (shag carpet maybe?), bolting down a couch or 2 or maybe a recliner in the back with a tv, and making it a party bus. So i want some ideas...

What color should i paint it? I was thinking about going with something like the mystery machine from scoobie doo, but i'd like some ideas.

What color should the interior be?

Should i put couches or bench seats or what in the back of this thing? As of right now there is nothing in the back, only 2 buckets up front.

I will get pics of it up soon, but for now heres a very similiar van.... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...=y&pager.offset=25&lang=en&cardist=932#vdptop

there is only one true color for a shag van.......CANDYAPPLE RED with sidepipes even, yeah and AR is now making the ansen slot mags again so of course it would need a set of those too, 15x8 up front and 15x10 out back jacked up in the rear with air shocks. :nice:

Jeeze, That Song's Stuck in My Head Again!

After my last post; I went screaming out into the twilight and drove like a maniac out to Shady Hollow to exercise the horses and give them their "Horse Enfamil". After about an hour; that stinkin' cornball song finally got out of my head. Then I made the mistake of coming back and reading this:

Time to go into sensory overload for about 4 hours - where are my ZZTop CD's???

I have no idea what the hell most of yal are talking about. guess yal are a tid bit older than me.....

Remember this has to be cheap. I will get any bench seats or anything possible from the junkyard, If i put a tv in it im gonna use a tv made for a house, etc.

Okay, here's the deal: Back in the '70s, a "pimped out" van conversion was the equivalent of today's slammed Escalade, complete with Altezza's, neon and 22" spinnaz. Those of us who remember those days (lusting after 4x4's and pre-73 real muscle) also remember that we thought as highly of the van conversions as most of the "kids" around here think of the afore-mentioned Caddy SUV's today.

"Afternoon Delight" was undoubtedly the most sickeningly sugar-coated horn-dawg song of the era. I remember the song well; always requested (and never got) Ted Nugent's "Wang Dang Sweet Poontag" (I wonder if that's gonna get past StangNet's sensor subroutines?) after I heard "Afternoon Delight" on the radio.

Make sense now?

thanks stangdreamin for the explanation.

I am going to go with bright green and purple. I will use one for paint, and the other for interior, i don't know which will go where though. I will build a wrap around couch, maybe a beanbag chair, maybe some sorta fold up table, small fridge, and a 19" house tv rolling on some wal mart spinners.

Anybody know where to go for shag carpet?

Hell man, it didn't even make sense THEN!
I'm not talking about the whole van conversion craze; I was explaining why we were laughing about it!

Speak for yourself! I was serious when I stated what I I wanted in "decent" transportaion for a teenager! Add in the fact that my Dad's F100 4x4 had a perfectly functioning campershell (mattresses and all) on the back and his LTD's as well as my Gran Torino had quite spacious back seats; and, well why would I want a stinkin' van for chasing girls? :D :D :D
