hey guys, im in a real bind here. I dont know what to do, so heres the deal:

for a while now, i've been compiling what i needed to do to my car, mainly an engine, and a new paint job (the roof and trunk are lifting and peeling). Well not too long ago, i found out that a guy i knew was selling his Calypso green LX (1990). 88k with afew suspension mods and a five lug, oh yeah, and all black interior. so monday, i looked at it and drove it, and WOW what a gorgeous car, i would rate it a 9.7/10!

but heres my dilemna. i got in a hurry and put my car on ebay (i know i know ). I know that my car needs some work, and his car needs nearly nothing (the correct speedo gear) and i really want his car, but i dont know if i could sell my car. i love it, but i mean, this thing is CLEAN! I did reserve the right to end my auction at any time, but i just wanted to get your guys' opinion about the whole thing. i only have one pic of his car, but here it is, and heres a pic of mine, and the main problem area. i'd appreciate all of your opinions, even if you just put down your vote. just let me know. thanks.

my car:

paint eff up (looks worse then it really is):

why would you want to trade your gorgeous 4-eye coupe for a run of the mill 90 hatch?

Straight trade? It is often hard to tell by the pics.

What's your ebay ad? When does it expire?

I saw your ad on eBay and was shocked that you are trying to sell your car. Your car looks good. I would be happy to own either of those cars!

I don't think you mentioned it, but how much is he asking for that car? And what do you expect to get out of yours?

I think for the difference of the cars price wise you could make yours very nice. Maybe strip it down do the prep yourself and paint it whatever color you really want, then lower it on some 5 lug wheels if thats what you desire? The Calypso car looks very clean and like it has some good mods, but mods can be added to yours too!

yes thats very true, and i know i'll probably never own a 86 5.0 coupe, so it's still up in the air. lol atthis point i REALLY dont know. im looking to get 4500 out of mine, and he's asking 55 for his. i have a few grand saved up, so bridging the gap isnt an issue. so i dont know... keep em coming guys, this is really helping.

I don't even think you should make your car 5 lug. Those wheels look right at home on your car and would look even better if you lowered it. Use that money you have saved and do a couple mods to your car. I hate to say it, but your car has much more character than his!

the thing that keeps getting me is that the 86's motor is tired, the tranny leaks, it's had hail damage repaired on the roof that will probably need to be re-repaired if i ever choose to paint it. and lol painting it. the 90 LX doesn't need anything, the interior is just as nice as mine, it's all black, the exterior is just as good, it's mechanicaly sound...

but on the other hand i know i'd fall in love with my coupe if i got a new motor in it. so i dont know man, seriously, im starting to lean towards keeping my car, but i just dont know lol.

Well body work is easy, trussst me... I did my own...

Painting a car isnt bad, buy your own paint, do your own body work and pay someone a few hundred to spray it.

5 lug isnt always about wheels, but about changing the stock brakes, which is one reason I did it. I hated disc/drum, and didnt like the fact the front rotars and studs were one piece. I changed it, and did it the right way (even though it cost a good deal more) just to have better brakes and more wheel choices!

I think your car with the grey trim painted semi gloss, and a nice black paint job would look REALLY nice! Leave the chrome trim alone, and the center cap and the outer edge polished (or chrome) and it would looke unique and clean!

The Calypso hatch sounds like a good deal, but your car is unique and hard to come by, its really up to you!
