When I try to move it with my fingers there is ALOT of residence. Every once in a while (after turning it by hand 2-3 full rotations) it gets easier to spin. I then turn on my manual fan switch and it spins about twice and stops. When I check it after that all that residence is back.

The first time I noticed this is when I saw smoke comming from the fan motor. I think it was trying to turn it but the residence was so much it was just burning out the motor. How do I get rid of the residence? I took out the whole fan and fan shroud but I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Try a dealer....I got a recall notice for my 95 GT saying the fan was bad, would freeze up and cause underhood fires

If you get nowhere with the dealer you can get a new fan from az for $50-60.

Now IF I did buy this from autozone what would it come with? Would it come with he new fan motor, fan blades themselves, and the fan shroud? Would I be able to just plug it in to the existing wire harness and be done for $60.00?

All you get is the motor for $60. It's really easy to replace. The instructions are in a haynes manual.

Uh ohh, you let the smoke out.... Yep you need to replace the motor.. You could do the wrecking yard thing or you could do the az type thing or you could pack some KY and go to the dealer but no matter how you look at it, you need a motor....

So I just took out the whole fan assembly from my car. It was a 5 minute (and one scraped knuckle) thing. I can't separate he fan blades or the motor from the fan shroud. I took off the 3 bolts from the motor and the metel clip on the back of the fan shroud. The stud on the back of the fan shroud (where the metal clip was) is rusted. Any help will be appreciated
