I just got all excited at got my car up and running. I went to take it around the block and give it a good romp... Oil spewed everywhere, all i did was drive it for 1 minute and pulled it back into the garage. Smoke was everywhere, I turned it off and checked the oil and nothing came up on my dipstick. When I popped my hood my dipstick was loose and off the header bolt so I am thinking it came from the bottom of the dipstick?? What I need to know is, do you think there is any hardcore damage done to my engine???

You will never know untill you take it apart. Hopefully it didn't run dry. Fill it up and see how it does. Only way to know without taking it apart. Do you have an Oil Pressure gauge? Might want to install one and keep an eye on it.

I hope I didnt run it dry either.. Tomorrow I am going to get oil and see how much it takes to fill it. I have an autometer oil press. gauge so I will check it out tomorrow. Just say I did run it pretty well to dry, do you think 20 second would of hurt?

If your dipstick was unseated, it won't register when you check the level.

If it was me, I'd reinstall the dipstick tube. Then drain the oil (do this all without running the car) and measure how much comes out. Now you'll have a decent idea of how low it really was.

FWIW, one drop of oil on a hot exhaust makes a surprising amount of smoke.

Good luck.
