Im thinking of buying this 04 stang gt conv. with a salvage title for $8000. The gt has 22,000 miles, very clean in and out, drives good, no problems and was hit on the front. It looks good to me, but what should I look for on a salvage car? Buy it...yes or no.

nah man, trust me, salvage isnt worth it. and you probobly think its OK, but its just cause you want to real bad.....take some time, and look around some more. you wont regret it.

well your re-sale value on that car is going to be like $500. So if you buy it, FORGET about trying to get any kind of money re-selling it....

For $8k you can get yourself a nice 96-98 Cobra. And if you save another grand or 2 you can get yourself a 99 Cobra. There are also nice GTs to be had out there for the $10k range.

I sold my 2002 GT with 70k miles on it for $10k 2 months ago. Shop around

I would NOT buy a salvage car unless it was your keeper car for life.

Without knowing the reputation of the shop that rebuilt it, it is very hard. If they replaced everything from the firewall forward(and did it right), no one will ever notice and the car should be straight. Check out SVPU.com. They are a local shop here and the only ones I trust with my car. Go to the website, click "SVPU Project Cars", and then "'03 Mustang GT ". This one had alot of front end damage, but it was fixed right. This also wasn't claimed on insurance, and ended up repo'd. The new owner had no clue it was ever wrecked, until he found the shops sticker in the dash and looked at the website. Low and behold, he found his car all wrecked. As far as ever selling it, you won't get near as much from a salvage title, and I also think you could find a better deal.
