First post....I got my 89 lx 5.0 4:10 Auto, out this year and after driving it 30 miles it dies. Its acts just like it ran out of gas spits and sputters and dies. Ill start right up but once I get up to about 35mph it dies again. I have to repeat this over and over to make it home. The car then sits overnight and then the next day runs great for 30 miles I can repeat it exactly almost to the mile. What I have done so far.

1. Cleaned MAF after it dies immediately made no difference.
2. New fuel filter. No difference.

The car runs perfectly for the first 15 minutes after that it seems to down shift erratically from 60 mph when I take my foot off the gas( before it coasts nicely but now it down shifts immediately) it also doesn't really up shift correctly either. Not sure why or how its all related but its repeatable everyday.
The temp gauge is not working so I cannot tell the temp and it has the gas/stabil in from last fall in it but I don't think that's an issue.
Help appreciated as I am confused on this problem.

we just pack snow around our distributor every 30 miles or so for longevity reasons.
