help needed for a 1966 ford mustang sprint 200 strait 6

OK i got a 1966 ford mustang sprint 200 its in rough shape but it runs well when i start it revs up like the RPMs are to the max. i ordered a rebuild kit for the carb ( it hasn't come in the mail yet ) but i dot know if that will fix it any advice for me ?

First off welcome aboard.

Third If you start it up and it just jumps the revs all the way up. With it off check to see if the butterfly is stuck open on the carb
