help needed!!

sounds like you are on the right track. the two things that die out with heat are fuel pumps and TFI modules. when it dies, have you checked for whether you are lacking fuel or spark?
if you think it is the TFI, and you want, try to get it to die out (have a chase vehicle behind you) and put a bag of ice on the TFI. once it cools off, it will sometimes come back to life (like when you let the car cool off).
any codes stored? even if the CEL is not on, codes can be stored in KAM.

if it's backfiring through the exhaust, that's a sign of running rich. you may be losing spark, so the TFI may be on the right track.
