ok last night i went to the park with my girl and when we were leavin i turned on my lights and all i had was park lights, checked all the fuses and nothing bad, but when i pulled the turn signal lever back my high beams would come on so we figured it was the switch so i pulled it out and bypassed it with some wire and had lights to get home. and my dad picked up a new switch today from advance and we plugged it up and nothing, dont even have parkin lights now but they still come on when u pull the turn signal lever back. any idea whats goin on??

that whole assembly on the steering column with the turn signal, high beam, and wiper contol might need to be replaced. I had the same problem a while back and I picked up a new assembly and the problem was fixed. Turns out something shorted inside of the thing and caused my lights not to turn on. Ford will want $120 for a new assembly, but I got mine at a junkyard for $40.

When replacing the turnn sigal/multifuction switch, bit of caution is adviseable.

The Multifunction switches from 87-89 will fit any 87-89 year Mustang, but don't work properly in a 90 or later model.

The 90-93 multifunction switches will work in any 90-93 model Mustang but don't work properly in any of the earlier models.

See http://secure.50resto.com/product1....nID=r9HX6Li4gUeTV1xoKI4q&SID=1&Product_ID=284 has them for $90

I can almost guarantee it is your headlight switch; mustangs are famous for having them fail. My car did the exact same thing as yours, the headlight switch was shorted out in the back. I replaced it with a Ford OEM unit and it has worked fine ever since.

Same here. When mine went out, the lights wouldn't go off, and only the parking lights were the ones stuck on.

when playing, something to check. if the feed from the hdlt switch to the multi function switch (i think it is red/yellow, but not sure) backs out of the harness at the MF switch, you will have no feed from hdlight switch. the flash to pass still works though (as your did).
just something to remember if all else fails.
i also recommend installing relays on the fogs, if not the lows and highs as well. takes a lot of stress of the marginal wiring (gt's with fogs). good luck.

same thing happened to me, except the previous owner wired the headlights to a pole switch and a fuse to the battery...had wires everywhere.....turns out the car had the foglight problem and it burned the multifunction switch...got one at the junkyard for $14 and all is well.....
