just for my own knowledge , if reverting from EFI To Carb would Firing order for that particular model year stay the same? basically is Carb and EFI firing order the same from your knowledge ?Are you using the correct firing order ?..there are 2 for a 5.0.
Yesterday I got home and just moved the secondaries and primaries on the carb around. Fired right up on all 8. Thing runs like a new car now. I don’t know exactly what I did but I know the carb was the problem. Thanks everyone !any luck with Part one of Diagnois?
Luke, I am also converting a EFI to carb, 1929 Model A pickup, my reasoning is that there is no where to hide wiring and ECM in a Model A , So I am using a 86 5.0 , and T5 gearbox. Haven't done nothing with heads , engine is disassembled . just replacing gaskets and valve stem oil seals. all internals are in good shape for my application, just a driver nothing only dependability. I am 62 and dont need to many more moving violations ..LOLWhat have you done to the valves yet? Are the rockers tight yet?
What I did to set lash is tighten the rockers so that you can spin the push rods a little but done wiggle side to side. That’s zero lash. Then I torqued them down to 20ft lb. I kept track of how far it took me to get to 20 ft lb. if it took over a full turn (360’) then you’ll need shims. If it took anything less than that to get to 20ft lbs then you’re good. All of mine took from about a half a turn to three quarters of a turn which is in spec. I had physically opened and closed the secondaries and just kinda moved all the linkage that could move. I didn’t think that would do anything I was just checking to make sure something wasn’t stuck.What exactly do you mean by 'just moved the secondaries and primaries ' around?
Yes I have no idea but it’s running great. Sounds great at 800rpmCoincidence.

I don't know how doing that could magically make it hit on all 8 but I'm glad it's running better.
