HELP on HCI !!!!

I am trying to pull my cam out and I have the radiator and fan out, but I need to get the AC thing that is behind the radiator out before the cam with come out all the way. How do I get this Radiator looking thing out? I dont see any bolts holding it in but it is held in there. Thanks

If you have someone else there they can pull it aside so you can get the cam out.

There are 2 "support" things in the upper corners. Each one has a bolt holding it to the body. I think the passenger side one is bolt down thru bracket, and the drivers side has the bolt thru bracket were bolt head is facing driver. They are silver w/rubber cushions. Remove these and then "carefully" slide radiator looking thing out, and swivel (you're standing in front of car) counter clockwise (up and left). The connections will turn. The fins on that thing are VERY SOFT. U will bend some. GOOD LUCK!

Yea I bent like 100 trying to get it out without removing that....I tried to pull it aside with another person but it wouldnt come out. I am gonna try and find the two peices in the upper corner....the two peice at the bottom corners..do I have to mess with those? Or are those the pices that it swivels from.....I am gonna try tonight and let you know what happens.....

did you disconnect the lines going to the AC condenser in the corner nearest the CAI?

there is a kit you can buy that comes with these rings to pop the springs out of place so you can disconnect the hoses. after you disconnect if you can take the AC condenser out. but dont forget to drain the system and recycle the R134a into a tank do you can put it back in there.

No I was hoping I could move it out of the way without disconnecting the AC lines because I dont cash to go buy the disconnect tool, and It just seemed more complicated....Do I really have to?

You can swivel it out of the way without disconnecting any A/C lines, they're flexible enough. I just swiveled it up vertical and tied it off with some wire to the hood prop rod while I did the cam.

the disconnect tool is like $5.00

if you need the tool, some car places will loan it to you instead of buying one. all depends on if they have it, and if they do that.

Yea I can probably rent it but I wanna do this tonight when I get home so I didnt want to stop off for one, but I may....Either way I guess the bolts I need to undo are at the top right and left....right?

they are like 10 bucks at kragen, its a hella simple tool too. also dont forget about the R134a, if you dont have a container for it or a hook up that that stuff is expensive

R134a itself isn't that expensive. But if you vent the A/C system to atmosphere you will have to have a shop refill it for you, unless you want for fork over a couple hundred bucks for tools -- you can't just dump a few cans of R134a back in, you *must* draw a vacuum first.

And besides, swiveling the condenser out of the way is *EASY*.

I undid the two aforementioned bolts and tried to swing it towards the driver but no luck...moved mabye a half inch....It is crappy lighting in my garage now, but I am gonna try tommorow morning.....any bolts Im missing?
