I am new to the mustang family, I just purchased a 2014 CS mustang with manual transmission. My problem is the engine shuts of when I put the clutch in to slow down. It does not happen all of the time. For instance when you going down the highway and the light turns red I put the clutch in a coast to a stop and sometimes the engines dies. I have searched other forums and others have had the same problem. I have taken the car back to the dealer and he says I need to down shift as I come to a stop instead of coasting. Is this correct? Or is he being a turd and trying to pull the wool of my eyes? He says I am not driving it right.

Hey Lynn, welcome to Stangnet.

I can't say for sure myself about fixing your problem. I've got two fox bodies, not real comparable on problems.

I'll move your thread over to the '05-'14 subforum's tech section, in sure you'll get an answer there.

Good to have you with us Lynn.

I have zero issues coasting to a stop. I simply shift into neutral (the actual neutral position... not by holding the clutch in the whole time) and brake.
