ok so heres the deal i go to the gas station and start to pump gas, but the gas goes down slow. like what i mean is that ill put just the tip of the pump in the tank and as it starts to pump its stops and i can see the gas fill up then slowly drain back in the tank. it takes me no joke 30 mins to pump a tank of gas. this is kinda a big problem someone plz help. also i heard it was probably my fuel (filter or filler) neck.. if this is so has anyone ever changed theres before i wana know how hard it will be for me to change it my self??

some cars have a check valve, which can mess up, and not allow gas to pump. i dont know if stangs have such a device- id have to check the manual.

good luck.

I've changed it, it isn't that big a deal- relatively speaking. Did it once on my first Fox, back in highschool. A few bolts and some creative wiggling, if I remember right- that was a long time ago. I don't remember having any trouble though. Not sure if that's your problem- but I don't have any other ideas either.

I thought it was a spider that someone shoved down the neck?

Actually it was the frog who was supposed to swallow the spider that he sent down the filler to catch the fly...

Take shorter strokes or something too.

I had this problem once. I tried another pump. Same prob, car wouldnt take gas. Then it occured to me that maybe it is already full, Duh. I dont have a gas guage, and I forgot to reset the trip after a fill up. The car sat for a couple of days, then I drove it and thought it needed gas. I never have had a gas guage in the stang, and dont care.

I had this problem on my 95...

There is a flap on the filler tube that got stuck closed on mine. I couldnlt fill it if i stayed at the station all day. SO yours might be partially closed or something. I used one of those drain snakes to push it open and its fine now.

BTW, this happend right after i changed the fuel pump so there was no way in h*ll i was going to drop the tank again.

Seriously, I had trouble filling mine up recently until I started pushing the nozzle in as far as it would go. No problems since.
