Ive got an 02 GT with 5 speed trans. Went to the track last night. Had alot of tire spin in second gear, when i shifted to 3rd i thought i missed 3rd gear. BUT, when i pushed in the clutch and rolled to turn on return lane i found out my car was stuck in 2nd. It wouldnt go into any other gear. Pulled the shifter out to make sure it hadnt broken and it was fine. However when i tried to shift into any other gear the shift pattern only went straight up and straight down, like from first to second. You couldnt move it from side to side like going to third or fourth gear. And there was NO tension on the shifter at all. When i pulled the shifter out there was metal shavings in the little bowl that the shifter sits in. Any ideas what this may be? thanks for your help

Sounds like you broke your shift fork maybe?? Time for a new tranny(or at least a rebuild) This time around buy a Tri-Ax or Pro 5.0 and avoid these types of problems. . . .

hmmmmm let's see if i can remember my parts list, cause the same thing happened to me in feb. if i remember correctly in my tranny the main shaft broke, a broken shift fork & a blown syncro seems like there was one more thing, but i can't remember. i wasn't beating on mine when it happened though i think i shifted at 3 grand & that's when mine happened, just cruisin along, & boom no other gear but 2nd if it's under warranty thake it in to the dealer, but be sure to try & clean any rubber off the tires & wheel wells, cause it's worth a shot if it's under warranty. be preparred when you go in cause they will be looking for signs of "hot rodding", they told me that straight up when i took mine in there

Damn that sucks. Well a pro 5.0 shifter is really nice. Good luck with your tranny problem bro.
