I have been working on my car for about 3 months now... Rebuilt motor on stock block but in the process i relocated the battery to the trunk... I am at the point where the motor is back together but when i go to turn the motor over, the starter doesn't engage at all. Battery is in the trunk and shutoff switch is in the rear bumper. From there the Positive cable goes straight to the positive terminal under the hood and feeds everything from there. Did i do something wrong?

Thanks in advance,

do you hear it spin at all or it just doesnt do anything?? ive had my starter pull away from the flywheel a few times before but you would definately hear the starter spinning tho

Figured it out...

:D Found the problem. I check all the connections on the starter and everything looked good, so i got out the trusty volt meter and i was not getting anything at the small black wire ( signal wire) on the starter. Put the car on a lift and traced the wire back to the battery post/fuse block. THere is a strange quick disconnect on the wire and turns out, no poer was getting through the connecter. cut out the connecter and replaced it with spade connectors and boom, thing cranks. Surprised i have not heard of this problem before on anybody else's car. Oh well, Thanks for all your input...

have you had the batt in the trunk for awhile now or is this new?
batt charged? put a jumper battery on it and see if it cranks. ditto for running "helper" grounds. could just be a bad ground, connection, battery, or rotted cable.

good luck.
