Alright, I seem to have a problem and I dont know what happen.

I just went to the garage to start the car, its about 38 degrees outside. I started the car up and it turned on and a belt sounded like it was screaming, so I turned the car off, and took the key out, and it was still going, sounded like it was spinning faster so I left it alone for 10 seconds, then I tried to start it again, and it got worse, so I shut it and took the key out again and it was still spinning, I have no idea which belt or what happen. But then it just stopped, I opened the hood and couldnt see anything major, I tried once to start it and heard a little tick and now I am scared to start it again.

What just happen, someone help!

Yes, key is out of the motor and it was still spinning, was it the timing belt? Where is the belt located, etc. Can I check it in plain view? I couldve sworn I got it replaced in summer, do you have any pics/diagrams?

When was the last time you ran the stang? If it's been a long time you probably didn't have any oil in the motor and you were hearing the rings on the block or something along those lines. If you have started it recently than nevermind.

There should only be 1 belt that drives all of the pullies -> Probably one of your pullies has seized from the description you gave.

What I'm having a hard time with is that you say it swueels when the motor is not turning. You've only got one belt in the car. Perhaps you mean that it's still making noise as the motor spins down??? If that's the case, take a look at the A/C clutch. Has it by chance, broken away from the assembly?

Sure its not just the starter motor missing engagement? Does the engine actually turn over or do you only hear this "spinning" sound when trying to start?

Also, are you running anti-freeze in your coolant? If running only water, then it is possible the water froze and your water pump can't spin it.

it turned over, but the sound was louder than the car, but now there is no more spinning/sound, i cant start the car, i heard a tick when i attempted to start the engine and im scared to try it again, i dont want to damage anything..

Now it sounds as if the battery is dead (tick and no start). Charge it up, pull the coil wire, and try again. If it's an attatched garage, leave the door open and allow some heat in there. I like the suggestion about the coolant. Check it and see its condition. Should be mixed for -20*.

One time my starter kept on turning over even when the key was out! I tried putting the key on ignition and the motor started and just turned the starter over faster then took the key back out and still was cranking. I just did it a few more times and it stopped. But it hasnt done it ever again. It sounds like the solenoid to me. A new one is like 10 bucks just put a new one in by ur self and save the cost of a shop. Giving it a few medium taps should help it loosen up inside.

tried the solenoid but, its back up

it was the actual starter, 87stangdiddle thats the same problem i had, but it kept doing it until it messed up the starter, but that was the reason

*FIXED* thanks for everyones help
