help with auto trans/ broke the button

OK, so i broke the button on the shift lever today as i was driving home from work. I have the button and the spring but for the life of me i cant figure out how to put it back together. Any help would be great.

You have to take the knob off first, then you can see what to do.

i have the knob off, i have the small screw that goes into the front of the handle the spring and the thumb button, i cant seem to figure out how to keep all of them in place to fix it.

I had to replace the OD switch on my 99, but it was like 5 years ago.
The switch came with a nice diagram of the whole set up.
Maybe the dealer will have a diagram.
