aight, today i tried unlocking my car with the remote and the drivers side doorlock won't work right. passenger works fine. the driver side on the other hand will pop open, but then pop right back down. its like this both with the remote and inside door locks. if i play with the lock manually with the key a little bit then the automatic lock works for awhile then starts the same crap again-pops up then right back down; help please??? car is a 2000 GT

chad3113:

A shot of silicone spray in the door key hole and the latch mechanism often helps. Work the lock with the key a bunch of times to let the lube get into all the right spots. Make sure that the black pop-up is not hanging up in the hold in the interior panel. One drop of silicone lube here helps. Pull up the black pin, unscrew it, and try to let lube follow the arm down to the pivot point (this is not easy to do). If this does not get it (you have to do this a couple times a year), then you have to take the interior panel off and lube the lock arms in the door.

HTH,

Chris

Thanks for the tip. what would be a good brand name silicone lubricant to use for this? also, is this common on 99-04 mustangs?

"Squeak No More" is what I have had for 100 years but any quality silicone spray will do the trick. I also tried Mobil 1 synthetic lube, don't know what it is but it works. Sorry, can't say if sticky a actuator is common in the +99s but my '98 driver side lock gets sticky and I think it is just an age factor. I think Tomustang's replacement method is a longer term fix.
