I'm installing a pillar mounted water temp guage and might need some help with the wiring. Usually i run the wires to the fuse and wrap it around it, but some dude at the parts store said not to do that. I need a light illumination, and an ignition power so everybody know the easiest and best way to hook'em up, and maybe some pics. Thanks

i would take the 12v and the illum off of the radio connections since they are the easiest to get to without messing with the fuse box

Well i need the illumination to come on only when i turn the headlights on, and not on all the time. Which might happen if i hook it into the radio ones.

He is talking about the dimming of the radio display, not the actual display (which is integral to the LCD screen inside the radio).

For my pillar, I tapped into the dimmer wire right at the headlight switch - it's a super short run to the pillar from there.

Good luck.

Ok thanks, I saw how this guy hooked everything up to his rear defroster wires so tomorrow I'll pull the bezel off and check those wires.
