Hey guys, just pick up my mac cold intake. I know nothing about cars but I said what the heck, I'm going to install the intake. Can any1 give me any pointers or tutorials links I can use. This is my first mod, I also got 373's getting installed on tuesday.

Yeah here is some tech advice: get the car up to about 120, then hit the driver's power window button and chuck the entire kit out the window. Seriously, the kit sucks and it does nothing but make it look better. I should know, I have one. Return that mofo and get your cash back.

No, I'm kool with it. You are the first to say that, every1 else says its a great mod as relates to gas, looks, and a better air system. Take yours out and throw yours out the window. Thanks for your input but no thanks. :notnice:

Hmm, you been spending too much time on the SRT boards, or did you previously own a burner? Take a poll and see what everyones thoughts are on it. Metal pipe=teh hottness, teh hottness=teh lack of performance, teh lack of performance=waste of TEH money. Sorry, not trying to sound like an @ss, been stuck at work way too long. And yes mine is going out the window in a matter of days!

I'll second what these guys have said. I once had a BBK CAI kit on my 2001 GT. It was very similar to the Mac CAI kit. I switched to the K&N FIPK kit and I like it much better. The Mac is made of metal(chrome) and therefore, it does get hot. I know, I used to check it out after driving the car for a while. It would get so hot, I couldn't even touch it. Not to mention its difficult to keep it cleaned and polished. The K&N is easier to take care of and definately runs and lower operating temperatures cause it's plastic. My opinion, go with something else if you want performance. If its looks you're going for, then the MAC will do fine.

You're going to find conflicting information when looking at most of any part in the aftermarket world. Some people have good results, others have poor. As stated above by others as well as myself, most guys who have experience with cold air kits tend to prefer those which are made of plastic over those made of metal due to heating incomming air issues. Generally speaking, plastic = cooler while metal = hotter. Hotter air = less o2 and therefore, less power. Cooler air = denser air, more o2, and thus more power.

I recommend doing some searches on here about cold air kits and induction kits just to see what you come up with. The choice is yours. I'm only sharing with you my opinion on cold air kits and what I know by experience.

I have the MAC CAI and I did feel alittle gain from it I do think everyone is right though they do warm up pretty fast but thats not the issue I have, mine taps the side of my fender and at a stop it makes this knocking noise it sucks! but it looks good under the hood.

Yea, I agree with you, however the new mac staight shot is stainless steel with heat reduction. I understand you don't like the metal getting hot (don't touch it) but the air is cooler. I like the mac exhaust sound and intake, so from what I researched and talk to it was just the way I went. I guess it depends on the driver who gets it, I keep you posted how I feel in month or 2. :nice:

You got the newer version? Did you install yourself?

hey lol, i still have my old one, that was my first mod... looks cool but thats about it. Mine is in good shape, and if you can return yours ill sell you mine for like half or something lol cause it is doing me no good sitting in my garage...

RedBullit... I have the MAC CAI too you'll like it....., I have it for just looks. And I agree it really doesnt help performance....nor does it hurt performance over stock. Everyone is right my ricer friends see it and say that adds like 20hp right?? I just laugh and say not really :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:
