Help with my convertible top

Help! I recently purchased a 1998 convertible. After my son crashed and burned my Blazer, I decided to replace it with what I really wanted. I love the convertible, but unfortunately it has to be kept outside. I just noticed that the black is flaking off at the edge of the top on the driver's side back window. How can I prevent any further damage? Also, any tips for caring for the top? Thanks.

I have a 98 vert as well, and when I bought mine, 9 months ago, I noticed some flaking in the exact same spot you are describing. Mine is not leaking or anything like that, and the spot that has flaked off on mine is close to the size of a nickel, so I am not real concerned with mine. As long as its not leaking it shouldnt be a major problem, other than a slight eyesore.
