I talked to the shop about everything. The owner said that I have a warranty for a year so there's no issue bringing it in. I told him I would just bring it by and have them double check everything. And he said if it just needs a bottle or two of friction modifier he'd be glad to put it in. I think he's a Ford guy so he liked the car. Haha. I'm just glad the shop is being so good about it. Thanks for all the advice guys. Now I at least know what to look for in the future if this ever starts happening again.Sorry, I missed that too,
I did check the drive shaft and there's the tiniest bit of play but maybe only a 1/4 inch. The shop I brought it back to said it was all normal. I had not checked it with one wheel on the ground. I'll do that now. Both sides?I'd check my drive shaft, but what do I know, have you jacked up one rear tire and turn the tire/wheel back and forth?
I'll check it in gear next.No need to do both sides, you're listening for a clunk similar to the sound you're hearing, check with trans in neutral and like second gear.
not sure I understand, you have a clunk that is coming from the passenger side only, check the spines on the axle on that side.But I can still hear the cluck when the driver side is jacked up but I can hear it only in the passenger side.
So after a bunch of jacking up either side. It's clunky in both sides. It seems to be louder on the passenger side. After putting it in gear I hear the clunk plus the tranny trying to stop it. There's a tad bit of play on both sides but they both lock up after about an inch of play. When you throw it in gear the driveshaft is banging on the trans because it won't let it move anymore but I'm not sure if that's what I'm hearing while I'm driving???not sure I understand, you have a clunk that is coming from the passenger side only, check the spines on the axle on that side.
Yeah, I spoke to him before it was finished, after it was finished and again two days ago. Unfortunately he just learned how to work on rear ends 3 months ago. Soooo... I don't quite trust his input. He said he set it at 7 thousandths. But who knows if the pinion depth was correct and what have you.You're likely hearing the backlash on the gears, did you talk to the installer?
