help with speedo cable

I dont know about a speedo cable fixing an erratic idle, I believe the VSS only control cruise control.

To connect your cable to the speedo, you have to remove the instrument cluster. Most of the bolts are 8mm. Take the dash plate under the steering wheel off, remove the platic trim around the steering shaft (where the ignition key is) Remove the light and hazard switches, Remove the gauge bezel 2 torx head screws on the top near the windshield and one on the lower right corner where the center console comes to the dash. Remove the 4 or 6 bolts holdng the instrument cluster to the dash and pull the cluster out some. Its a tight fit, but you can reach your hand back there, release the clip to remove your old one. After you have routed your new one, it snaps into place in the back of the speedo, not at easy as it sounds, takes some flexablilty and patience. Make sure you feel the cable lock into place, give it a gentel pull, it shouldnt just slide out. Then put it back together. Make sure you grease the cable. Have fun, Ive done this twice, once to replace the cable and again to replace the speedo. I have a vert so it seemed a little easier since I could lower the top and have some headroom.
