Help with Starter removal

I am taking mine out becuase I suspect its gone and I am done being stranded.....I have the car jacked up and got the bottom bolt out but cant get anything in to touch the top one....anything else have to be pulled....haynes said it can be done just like this but I dont have a lift like them ......

you will need a 1/2 inch wrench, stubby if you have one, and it is easier (i think) to get that one from the top, instead of the bottom. Either way get ready for some aggrivation.

I think I used a long extension to get the top bolt out of mine... Cant remember.

It's a major PITA but it will come out with some tedious work. I think I took the solenoid off of my stock one to get to the top bolt. Here is what you are dealing with if this helps. This is a small high torque starter so it may be different than the size of your starter if it is stock.

Thanks for the pics guys....From the looks of it you had your heads and headers off.....Can I do it with those in place? I dont have a swivel so I guess I need to go buy one tomorow.

You dont have a swivel? I thought every garage had one...

My LT header on that side was unbolted and moved a bit cause I was taking it off... You should be able to slide it out just gotta play around with it for a bit
