Hey,

Im having problems installing my T-5 Tranny into my 1989 5.0

Im at the point of sliding the tranny through the throwout bearing, and through the pilot bearing into the engine.

Yet the Tranny will not go in all the way. It needs to go in just another inch, if even that.

So I took the Bellhousing, off, re-checked the the alignment with a clutch alignment tool again, and it fit perfect. Made sure the alignment tool matched the end of the tranny spline too. So bolted everything back up again, and tried again, and it go stuck again at the same point!

NEED HELP, anyone have any idea why it wont fit or any tips on how to get it in?

Just to double check, the t5 is from a 93 and below right? You generally just have to wiggle the trans back and forth like a madman to get it in. Mine went in pretty well without having to hook up the clutch cable. Also make sure that you have the tranny lined up with the engine. Sometimes its hard to see when you are under the car.

1.hook cable up to pedal.
2.hook cable up to clutch.
3.adjust so there is enuff pressure to move clutch.
4.have someone step on pedal.
5.push tranny in and bolt while the pedal is being pushed down.
6.put rest of car together.
7.enjoy that new clutch by laying down atleast 25 ft of rubber
(after break in period of course)
Peace

Thanks, for info, yeah i was thinking of the installing the cable pushing the clutch pedal but wasnt sure.

Also the Tranny is from a 1990-91 Stang. Checked the tag to for correct number.

This is probably the most asked question about T-5 installs or reinstalls. Just as everyone else said wiggle the tranny like a madman and/or press the clutch in and out cuz if the friction disk is slightly out of place the input shaft wont go in. When you release the pressure from the pressure plate it should be able to wiggle into place if thats the problem. Just be patient with it....it will come together.
