On my 68 there's those vents behind he hood in front of the windshield. I'm guessing this is the intake for the heater/AC...?

Well that piece is spot welded on the car, I have a problem, because my car was sitting in a barn for ten years that space inside is full of leaves, twigs, dust etc etc

What do I do about that, I have to get it out of there!

If the car is assembled, it'll be a bit messy.

Open the left and right air vents.

Using an air gun and high-pressure air, blow in each side of the cowl. Large amounts of debris will blow down the air vents, into the car. Vacuuming will be required.

There will probably be straw etc. still in the cowl. To get it all, remove the front fenders and pull the debris out through the drain hole.

Can you not get at the hole by removing the splash shield?

Its way too easy to just pull the fender....i can have my fender off in 20 minutes and it will be way easier to work with...might want to go ahead and get some new splash shields and do some cleanup beneath there while you're at it.

I'm probably biased by the fact that pulling the fenders this summer was a misadventure in metric miscellany because of an earlier body shop. But if memory serves, you have to remove the bumper, front valance, upper deflector, and grill trim to remove the fenders, presuming you do not have the rocker molding.

That's not hard in any significant sense, but it's something to think about if you want to drive the car for a bit in the next two months (Fall and Spring being my favorite times to take mine out) and have limited time.

Another thought would be go from the inside....if you have that much crap in your cowl you more than likely have it all in your fresh air vent and heater box anyway...remove the fresh air vent and heater assebly and you can clean them out....if the cowl is not rusted through this shouldnt be too hard, but if it is rusted, then removing those components can be difficult...
