I wrote this in another thread, but decided not to Highjack, so heres what I wrote:

Ahhh I know the woes you guys are talking about. When I bought my Cobra 2 weeks ago, I was so stoked that I didn't really notice that the passanger side door body lines were way off. Then a few days later I noticed that the trunk lid was off. I brought it back to the "svt" dealer that I bought it from yesterday. God these guys were clueless. They tried to tell me that all that was "normal"!!!!! So I grabbed the service manager, dragged him out to the lot and pointed out the fact that all 20 or so V-6 stangs on the lot where strait as an arrow in the body dept. WTF!! I spend all of this money on a "SVT" Cobra and get treated like a moron!!!!! They were trying to talk to me like I was a stupid kid. Well I'm not. I'm 26 years old, and have been fighting for our country in the worlds greatest Navy for over 7 years. This is the 3rd brand new car I have bought from Ford. I am not some ignorant kid that doesn't know crap about cars. I have 2 years training in autobody and paint, plus I have been building engines with my father in his business since I could walk. Wow, sorry to go off in a tangent......back to the story. Ok, so I tell them yesterday that I AM NOT taking the car back with me today. I want a loaner and I want my car fixed!! They so fine, we will send it to our body shop, but we don't do loaners, and I need to find my own rental. I WAS LIKE WTF!!!!! So I walk over to the little pamflet thing and grab the Cobra pamflet that states on the back, "SVT Owners recieve preffered treatment at dealerships, free wash jobs, free loaners during repairs......etc...." I take it to the General manager and show him it and tell him what I have been going trough. He got PISSED!!!!!!!!!! So needless to say I got my Loaner and the Cobra is in the shop. Wow for an SVT dealer this place was TOTALLY clueless. The worst part was that they were totally ****ting on my salesman, who the rest of the dealership some how thought was responsible to get all of the legwork done in this matter. I will give him this, My salesman Morgan, is a True bighearted man. He is so great to work with and goes WAY out of his was to make me happy. Kudos to him .
Holy Crap I just wrote a novel!!! Sorry for the highjack, I needed to vent!!

P.S. Oh yeah, and the kicker of it all, was in the glove box of my Cobra, was a laminated card signed by John Coletti himself saying the my car was chosen for a random drive and evaluation by him, and that the car was free of all defects!!!!!!!!! IS HE BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to sound like an a$$ man, but didn't you at least inspect the car before you bought it??

I had some big problems with my 01 cobra. The paint was flaking off the back bumper, and they expected me to wait at the dealership all day for them to fix it.Some dealers just suck ass, and some actually try to help.

Yes I did inspect it. I noticed numerous small scratches which I annotated to be fixed. I notice that the passenger side door was a bit off, but figured that it was a factory defect and I would have it fixed later. When I noticed the trunk lid yesterday is when I flew off the handle. It was hard to notice with the 03/04 style spoiler (ugly I may add).

I hear your pain...

I had my hood painted with about 120 miles beause of an inch long crack in the paint. For that one, I blame Ford paint quality. In addition, While prepping my car for delivery to me, it managed to be oversprayed with white paint, so it had to be buffed out. For that I blame the dealership. There are other quality things with this car, but it would take more time to write up.

This was my first new Ford, so I NOW know a lot more of what to look for.

I do not mean to hijack... Just wanted to point out that I feel your pain...

I agree, if you pay $30,000+ for a car the body lines should match up. But, the guys in the service dept. were somewhat right too. The door should be absolutely no trouble for them to fix whatsoever. The trunk however is another story. There is zero, 0, zilch, nada adjustment on them. That's not the dealers fault...it's Ford's, and in that aspect they are right, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't fix it at Ford's expense. So basically what I'm saying is if the screw holes are even slightly off on the trunk lid or the mounts, the gaps on the trunk will not be right. Trust me, I've had mine off and it really sux that there is no adjustment there. Luckily mine is gapped correctly. Even if they have to give you a new trunk lid to fix it, they should do whatever necessary to make it right.

I hear you! I have just noticed a few thing myself:

1.) that the passenger side door of my GT is way off. Next time I take it back in for service I will show them this and see how they react.

2.)my gauga cluster glass( if that's what you call it) has swirl/scratch marks from hell in it since I bought it. I though it was just dirty at first and I could clean it so I didn't mention it.

3.)A metal prong/wire also popped out of my passanger side lower seat cusion and almost punched a whole in the leather. I had to unhook most of the lower seat cover off and push it back in myself

Im sure thats not all but I have to go right now!

Everyone has all these stupid little problems with their mustangs. For example, the weather stripping on the back window is starting to fall off, people hear all kinds of noise from their rear end, and all these problems with the dealerships not wanting to fix anything. On top of all that it seems that the Ford paint sucks along with the fake leather. Personally the only problem Ive had is the weather stripping... luckily. The only reason Im complaining is because my car is only a year old and things like this shouldnt be happening. I love my car and wouldnt want anything else at this point, but Im not so sure my next car is going to be a mustang. I also think the salesmen and people that work in the parts department should learn a little more about these cars. Most of them dont know what they are talking about when they try to sell a car. Atleast mine didnt.

I feel your pain!!! My old GT had a few problems but nothing to bad. They had to replace the carpet in the car becasue there was a hole in it were the gas pedal was rubbing it. Other than that it was OK. Now with the Mach I have a list started with stuff that is wrong.

The main prob. is they didn't paint part of the roof. Right where the door molding on the top of the car meets the roof. You have to look under the peice to see it but you can see where they missed it.

My window washer nozzles spray down at the hood.

The carpet has a hole in it AGAIN from the clutch pedal rubbing it. It's also bunched up right by the hood pop lever so there is a fold that sticks out. Looks like they just crammed it in there.

My 40th aniv. badge on the pass. side was so loose I thought it was going to fall off.

The rubber weather strip on the pass. side inside the car looks like a 4 year old put it in.

I also had a tick in the head, but they fixed that. I checked the day my car was made and it was on a Monday. Looks like someone had a case of the Mooondays when they built my car. Way to go Ford.

Time for one who's been there, done that to chime in....

First, dealers are out to get you. They are scum. I live in a large metro area, with lots of choices, and I have a list of new car dealers I have dealt with. So far there are 8 on my never go back there list and one on my loyalty list. Don't ever expect to get anything that is rightfully yours without first wasting many hours of your time and calories of your energy b****ing them out to get it done.

Secondly, you are right to complain about the problems with your car. 30K is way too much to pay for something that isn't perfect. BUT, remember that cars are cars, and there is no perfect one, except maybe in Italy. Especially American cars. They are crap. They wear out sooner, they break down more often, and are often more expensive to fix. This has always been the case, and none of the big three are doing anything to rectify the situation. Why do you think Mitsubishi offers the Best backed cars 10 year thing or whatever it is? Because they know their s**t won't break like its American counterparts.

Sorry to rant or highjack your thread. I say all this while owning only American cars in my life. Look at it this way: I used to own F-bodies, and compared to those, the quality of the build is as though they were put together by God himself!!

Mitsubishi's cars are some of the worst quality out there amongst the Japanese.

And they keep voiding that warranty on Evo's claiming that people are racing them.

Well I just got the car back. The doors good now, and the trunk too. The pricks didn't wash it though. Oh well I would rather do that myself.
