Sorry man, I'm somewhat of a beer afficianado. Besides, with as much alcohol the beer I usually drink has I could provably put down all 24 of those and not even get a good buzz. That is of course assuming that I have the ability to consume THAT much liquid...

Blockage- When the hose blew, it exploded, and the hose came apart and a piece of it was lodged in the good heater hose- I guess it made it all the way through the heater core??

I call shenanigans until you actually drive the car and verify the problem is gone. How does a hose piece go inside after exploding? Why do many cars have heater control valves that shut off coolant flow to the heater core, yet don't have your described problem?

Not that I'm longing for my 20% cut of the $5 minus paypal fees, but that doesn't sound right.

I concur, how does a blockage in the heater hose cause overheating ? I smell foul play here........................ To top it off, if the hose that's between the water pump and heater core did burst, the flow was away from the core, not into it. Now that I've gone back and reread his original post, I say he had an air bubble there to cause the temp spike.

Dont even ask me how it happened...

First I checked for the air bubble- none-

I took out the thermostat, did the boiling water thing- and it worked perfect-

I had all of the hoses off the car, and was sitting there scrathing my head- waterpump was making no noise, is not leaking-

I took the hose and added water to the radiator with the drain open and it went right through-

I was thinking blockage, so I took the good heater hose, uses a high pressure washer and sprayed into the hose to see if anything would come out, and it was backed up, after spraying into it for about 15 seconds, all of a sudden a piece of rubber came out the other end and it was no longer backed up-

The piece of rubber didnt look like the inside portion of a hose though, it looked like the outside portion-

whatever the reason, I put all new hoses on the car, put the same 50/50 mix back in, and just got done with a 15 mile drive in traffic and the car stayed right at 190-

Lets make sure I was correct with this, the hose going from the waterpump to the heater core was the one that broke-

Trust me, it does not even sound logical to me, but its what happened, but if not for someone saying blockage, I would have never screwed with squiting the high pressure water into the heater hose--

The whole thing still doesnt make sense to me either- all I care is that it works now...LOL

I giving the $5 to the first person who said blockage- but for no money, anyone want to figure out what happened?

Maybe at the exact same time the one hose blew, the other one came apart inside??? I am still lost on what just happened-

15 seconds with a high pressure? That's some serious blockage, but still wouldn't cause overheating.

The water pump hose is the suction side, and the core is fed from behind the thermostat housing. So if that side hose did burst from blockage, as unlikely as it sounds, wouldn't the blockage be in the old hose? How'd it get to the new hose?

So now all the hoses are new, including top/bottom radiator hoses? How do the old ones look?

The old hoses looked OK, nothing too serious, they were only about 4 years old, and the car was only running for 3 of those 4...and there is only about 6000 miles on the car since it was restored.....

How the piece got from the blown hose to the other radiator hose, Im still trying to figure out.............Im not really sure...

Ive been talking to a few buddies, and like the JFK assasination, I dont know if this one will ever get figured out because everyone Ive talked to is stumped as to how the piece of rubber got into the hose that did not blow......
