hertz shelby pics

I like the V6 Supercharged Shelby better than the GT500 too....it's not that i don't like the 500, i think it's more the wheels than anything....it always seems like Ford just doesn't get the wheels right on production cars. The GT500 needs some dished wheels and then it would really click.

I work for Hertz, these cars are pretty neat up close. My Boss was able to order one of three that were built as 5 speeds. Carol got one, my boss got one and another executive got the other. My boss ordered his with the chrome Bullits, 4.10 gears, cold air intake, larger throtle body and the suspension upgrade. They also came with the Hurts shifters.

We had 7 on our lot the other day ready to go to the auction. They are bringing between $50k and $90k depending on miles and condition

Oh they are. Usually 120+. Engine swap (not matching numbers or even totally wrong numbers) 66's and 67's (350's, 500's are pulling more) are pulling 120+, so I'd imagine a Hertz car in nice shape would pull beyond that.

90k is up there though.

My dad was down in LA a couple months ago and asked about renting one. He said they're over $100 a day and you have to take a driving course or something. Is that true?

Yes and no, they are only available at select locations and the rates are in excess of $100 per day. You do not need to take any courses to rent one. Most of of the cars ar hitting the mile and life parameters, so you will start to see them at auctions.

When I saw the first pics, I did not think much about them. But when I first saw one in person and heard it, I quickly fell in love with them.

does the car have a govenor on it? and if so what is the top speed?

Great car, great history, great idea, but im so freakin sick of all these bottomless pocket "collectors" who drive the price up on cars like the mustang into the complete stratosphere. Lets face it, its a mildy warmed over AUTO mustang gt with simple bolt ons going for exotic car prices. F it. you can keep it. Go buy an 03 cobra and go 4 times faster for way less.

Call me crazy but i like it better than the GT500...too bad it doesn't have the same engine, or at least a N/A 5.4.
I agree. I didn't think much of the Hertz until I saw one in person. Definitley a good-looking car. That thing is begging for some deep-dish bullitts with a polished lip. Not sure the new offset will allow deep-dish though. Too bad they didn't go with the Hertz style hood on the upcoming Shelby GT. Instead they tack on yet another cheesey (fake) hood scoop.

+1000

Collectors with deep pockets paying way too much for cars to throw them in collections and warehouses somewhere are killing off the market for enthusiasts like my father and I. We won't sell our Shelby, because we'll never find one like it again.

But then again, it made 582 crank horsepower out of a 347 stroker (R block) N/A, road race prepped, ready to drive onto an SCCA track, never been hit, painted once :D :p :SNSign:

word. drive and enjoy the cars and keep em nice. collectors to me arent really car guys, they pay everyone to do every last thing and do it purely for financial gain.
