Hesitation. Need help.

Recently I noticed that my 2001 GT has developed a hesitation upon acceleration. The car seems to be running fine under easy driving, but if I get on it, the car seems to have a hesitation. I shut the traction control off to see if that had anything to do with it, as I'm in need of new rear tires soon, but it still did it.

I don't think it's the clutch, as I don't really abuse the car. Could this be the fuel pump going out? The car has 97k, and as far as I know, still has the original spark plugs. The check engine light hasn't come on either. Any help as to what it may be is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Start with the basics...fuel filter, plugs, air filter, PCV valve...

Most of the time it will be minor maintenance issues. Try what twogt suggested and see if that fixes the problem.
