its been a while since I posted in here. My mustang caught fire shortly after I finished the engine rebuild so its been sitting for the last 4 months. Since it was a money grubbing whore and I couldnt stand the sight of it I shoved it back in the garage and bought a jeep wrangler to tool around in. By far the most awesome slow vehicle I have ever owned, but I am getting hit by the speed bug again. This time I will be packing a fire extinguisher. My car was saved by a fat female cashier at subway who hurddled the stores counter like a track star and gave me the stores extinguisher before things got way out of hand. If I had kept one in my car I likely could have gotten away with just a good cleaning. Lesson learned.

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

Welcome back, Styk. Long time, no see.

Sorry to hear about your car, but glad you didn't give up on it. Fires definately suck. Keep us posted!

Wondered where you been. Good to hear you saved it, I knew a guy whose Mustang burned to the ground with nothing salvageable. The wheels melted into puddles.

SO what are your new plans for it?

It sounds worse than it is. Obvious paint damage to the bay. Injector harness, drivers side injectors, distributor, and the plumbing for my autometers went up. Just came at a time when I didn't have money to spend on it and I had just spent a lot of time/money making it road worthy. I will get some pics up soon. First plans are to sttrip the paint in the bay. Smooth some of the smaller holes and repaint. Then hide/wrap some of the harness.

Sorry to hear about the fire, but glad you saved it before it melted. What caused the fire (so the rest of us can hopefully avoid the same fate) ?

I had just replaced a bad injector. I either tore the o ring or it didn't seat in the rail correctly. It idled for about 30 minutes and then I drove it the night before. On the way to work the next day it started cutting out and I could smell the fuel. By the time I pulled over and popped the hood it went whoosh.

That's why I hate working on the fuel system. Did you oil the O rings?

Yes, but the o ring wasn't new. Now I am getting new o rings anytime the injectors have to come out.

Same here. I'll going to put aside all other goodies until I have a good one mounted.

Where's a good place to put one in a coupe? Trunk?

I'm going to mount mine under the glove box. Not sure how, but that's where I want it. I hate seeing them on the pillars.

I've got mine in the hatch, though under the glove box is a good idea. Easier to reach.

I love pc. It's my home away from home. Every time I get a week I run over there.

Anyway, for some real fire extinguisher lulz:
