I stayed at the Bay Point Mariott for a week last November. I usually go in the off-season.

Nice. I rarely wandered over the hathaway bridge. There are a few beaches the locals don't advertise and you can avoid the tourist mob even in summer. That's usually where I hang out. Hoping to catch a shark, been a while since I bbqd a shark steak.

I had just replaced a bad injector. I either tore the o ring or it didn't seat in the rail correctly. It idled for about 30 minutes and then I drove it the night before. On the way to work the next day it started cutting out and I could smell the fuel. By the time I pulled over and popped the hood it went whoosh.

Wow ! I'm getting some intermitant cutting out and I smell gas at a certain stop light on the way home. Guess I'd better check into that. I do keep an extinguisher on the passenger's side rear floor board within easy reach. I hate fires.

quick update. I popped the hood to do some work for the first time since since the fire and just a word to the wise. IF you EVER use a dry chemical extinguisher on your vehicle pressure wash and then soak the engine in simple green or degreaser. EVERYTHING is rusty and corroded even though I hosed off all the residue as soon as the tow truck dropped it off after the fire. All the new nuts and hex caps are rusted and every aluminum piece that I didnt powder coat or paint is growing white stuff. What little paint I had under hood is bubbling and peeling off as well. My big worry is that I wont be able to get all this **** off and when I go to repaint underhood the paint wont stick. I have pics, but I am not going to post them in this thread. When I get enough work done I will start a progress thread. The heat is killing me so progress will likely be slow.

Yes, but the o ring wasn't new. Now I am getting new o rings anytime the injectors have to come out.

I learned this same lesson, but not as harshly. After installing the PI intake manifold, my car started but missed real bad. I revved it to try and get her to fire and started smelling fuel. I popped the hood and the injectors were spraying everywhere under the hood. God damn injector o-rings had all torn when I reassembled it. Now anytime I remove an injector I install new o-rings.

A little vasoline on the o ring works to get the injectors to seat properly

It was probably for the best. I rushed a lot of the build because I was moving and now I am going to fix all the little things that were bothering me.
