don't fall for it - just show up as is - sticker / no sticker who cares.

I think it would be more childish not to show up because of that.

This ain't no east coast west coast Biggie vs Tupac crap. It's just an enthusiast event.

If it is really for the enthusiasts, then it should not matter where you take your car to have your work performed. Enthusiasts are just that, enthusiasts. If there are politics involved that require people to remove that enthusiast factor out of it then why bother? I don't think not showing up is childish but I do think that forcing people to alter the appearance of their vehicle IS if this is the case. Is Fast afraid that none of their shop cars will be able to perform as well as some of the cars that represent KK and AFP? Well... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Fast just wants their name to be the only one displayed and that this dyno day is nothing but a way for them to get their name out, possibly associating them with some top performing cars that they never even would have had the opportunity to bring a wrench remotely close to.

But lets not make this a shop war or anything. Because a request to cover all stickers doesn't stir the pot at all and remove the enthusiast factor from the event.

We have actually been put into a similar situation before ( But was actually Banned from going ) and we felt the same way. What people don't understand is that stuff like this actually hurts the community as a whole. If all the fast Mustangs would show up tomorrow, the NW could really get a good name for itself, which will only help everyone in the future. Im not saying that all the performance shops should or need to always get along, how could they when we are all competeing for the same business. But having some competition in the community will only push everyone to go bigger and better, this helps the NW name as a whole, and will generate more nationwide business.

Actually, we suggested a "get together" with the other shops in the area, (got an e-mail from Jeff early on) to discuss rules, who could help run the dyno, strapping down cars, scheduling etc. I talked with Jeff at Woodburn 3 weeks ago and had lunch with Jon 3 weeks ago so we could ALL work together and help spread the word to get all the enthusiast out. The "get together" never happened. Why?? Don't know.
Everybody would have had an input and could have expressed their desires and what we could have done for the NW.

I am not going to say anything more but just this.

By telling us that our customers are not welcome without covering their stickers, you have kept out a large number of people that could have been there. We just wanted to pay our fees and make some passes. Hang out and enjoy the car talk.

At our annual meets KKP, Torque Freaks, and RREV have come out, and we all had a great time. There are pics of our customers cars (Bill for one) that are on the FS website and we have never had an issue with it.

I guess I just dont understand how covering stickers benifit the NW.

Personally I am WAY too old for this. Cover em, don't cover em, personally I could care less. Did anyone return my calls? NOPE. Was it ever discussed? NOPE. Did anyone call to talk about it? NOPE. I do appreciate this thread however. 30 calls in 2 hours.

I will forward the E mail I recieved on this matter to you personally. I did not see in the e mail I recieved where it would be up for discussion. I took it as it was... a request and passed it along to my customers. I did not see a need to discuss the matter further as it is your event and your people made it clear what was expected. I am not butt hurt and was actually willing to go along with it untill discussing it with my customers who stated they would not participate if that was to be the case. I hope you have a full event and hope all goes well.

Best wishes, Jeff #1 AFP

I am everybody's customer. I'll hang anywhere

I can't imagine this was ever actually said by anyone over at FS.
Sounds more like a rumor to me.

Ron,

Sometimes chatting with shops is not the stopping point. They are busy and most of the owners are owner/operators which dont provide them the time for promoting. You are the face of your shop and you have quite a bit more time then most so stopping at an email probably isn't the best way. Promotion is bigger then a shop. You need car clubs, local businesses (plural) and friends to help promote. I am glad this thread has helped your phone service, and some are thankful of you responding. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I will try and stop by.
