Hey i have a question...Im so lost

I have a 97 GT and about 3 months ago i got some sub woofers put in and everything was good for about 2 months but than my battery died..i figured that maybe just the battery was dead because it was the battery that was in it when i bought the car so i have no idea how old the battery was...so i just bought a new battery and than it worked for about a week than it was dead. so than i took it back to autozone to get another battery and they gave me a brand new battery..this battery was good for about another week than it died..so i kept recharging it every day and it would last for about a hour than after i let it set for about 2 hours or longer, it dies...i already checked the alternator twice and it had good voltage when the car was running. than to finalize my check on the alternator i jump started the car and let it run than unhooked the battery while the car was running to make sure if it was the alternator or not and the car kept running just fine even when the battery was unhooked, so i dont think its the alternator
any advice would help...thanks

My guess is that if you put in an aftermarket amp to drive the woofers, then it might be possible that the remote turn-on for the amp is wired to a non-keyed source. That means the amp stays on, all the time. Check your connections to make sure the amp remote is connected to a keyed source. Start with that and let us know.

well i took it to a shop but i think they grounded something wrong that keeps the battery on so ill see what i ca do and check in with you again

Newsflash...you dont turn a battery "on and off"

But seriously, there will always be a "draw" on the battery when the car is off to keep the memory in the PCM, clock, radio stations, etc.

Easiest thing to do is jumpstart the car if its dead and disconnect the subs or whatever else you hooked up for a while. Might be drawing more than it can handle and every week you have a dead battery. If you're still running ok after a week or two you need to double check how you hooked your audio up.

I agree with Jinx102672.....

Turn off your car and check if your subs amplifier is still on. It should have a green/red LED to show that it's on.

If not, there should be a fuse for the amplifier under the hood, near the battery on the cable that powers the amp. Remove the fuse to make sure that the amplifier is not getting any power and test the car for a few days.

The shop probably messed up on the wiring. Let us know!!

OK, this might help you out. I added a sub and amp on my '03 a while back. I bypassed the factory amps for the aftermarket subs. Nothing was disconnected and everything (including factory amps) still functions. I have never had a issue with battery drawdown either. I even show what keyed power sourcce you can tap into.
