Hiding wires...need a little help!

Yes, I searched this. I just need help from people that have done this before.

The only problem I'm running into is running the main harness back to the passanger side. Did you guys go over or under the radiator?

Right now I'm doing it under and it looks like I'll have to extend the pass. side headlight and corner light. (Most people just extend the pass. head light).

I know Eades didn't extend any wires. Care to chime in Chris?

I think I've heard of most guys going under the radiator, but I'm probably wrong. I know JT and some others have done this, might try PMing them. Free bump for ya Jake!

I just finished up the same project. I went under the Rad, and just extended the wires. I use solder(sp) and heat shrink. I went all out though. I custom made the starter wires, alt wire, grounds, added a circuit breaker, and a fuse to the battery in the trunk. It is not neccessary to go this far, I am just very meticulous. No problems to date......

LoudToy- What did you do with the harness mounted on the drivers side of the firewall? I haven't looked at it too much, but it looks like it may be staying there?

I went in front of the radiator . I zip-tied the wires to the steel bumper. I don't know if that will work with the stock overflow bottle and pcm location because I relocated both of them. The only wires I extended were for the spout connector since I couldn't get to it with smoothed fenders, and also the alternator since I moved the fuse box inside the fenderwell.

Not sure what harness you are speaking of. Is it in the fender or is it visible? I don't remember seeing a harness on the drivers side firewall in the engine bay. What is it too? Maybe I am just missing your thought.......

It's the fuel injector harness. It connects to the passenger side firewall.

Low5.0- Do you mean inside the front bumper cover? I tried that and I was way short. Hmmm....this stuff can be a little tricky.

Sorry, no help there. I didn't mess with that one. Just the Main Harness, distribution center, and the ccrm and maf harness. Then I relocated the battery to the trunk.

Mine is in between the radiator and the steel bumper, right under the headlight assembly. Like I said, it may not work with the CCRM(not pcm, sorry ) in the stock location. If you look at the very bottom right of this pic you can kinda see the wire. http://highoutputgt.homelinux.net/418/100_0448.JPG

Thanks man! I just left those connectors shoved down the hole in fender as far as they could go. It's not the neatest, but I think it looks better than leaving it bolted to the firewall.

So the wires are pretty much resting on the front of the radiator?

EDIT: I see what you're talking about. I don't think I'm going to do it that way because my bumper cover is still on and I think that would be a PITA.

Yeah, I had my whole front end apart when I did mine so it was pretty easy. I can imagine it would be a little tricky with everything still on the car.

Yeah, I just extended the headlight and corner light wires this morning. I think I should wait until the heads are on the car and the ps bracket is mounted up before I zip tie everything to the frame. Thanks for your help. You engine back looks absolutely sick!!

OinkAodeoink hid his fuse box and ABS unit into the fender. Do a search on his name.

There's not much you can do about the injector harness other than remove the loom and put 3/4" loom on it instead of the factory 1". It would help tuck it away.

The main harness to the starter won't be bad to do. I would suggest going to a junkyard, finding a used harness, taking the plugs from it and building a whole new one from scratch. That way you know you have all new wiring and if it doesn't work out, then you still have your factory one.

Here one for this thread, maybe OT: what about cleaning up the factory vacuum lines? I know someone here has relocated the tree to the fender. I was thinking of making a whole new tree (more like a box) to be used as a vac reference instead of the manifold. Run one 5/8" line from the plenum to the box and that should give all the lines a healthy reference vacuum instead of running a bunch of lines to the plenum and a bunch off the tree too.
