High oil pressure

I just finished changing my oil about 400 miles ago.
I use Mobile 1 and Puralator synthetic media filter.

While driving along the highway, I noticed my oil pressure guage was reading near max. Even at idle the pressure was running high.

Everything else is normal.

Any ideas????

Is this the first time you've used this oil and filter combo?? Do you hear any tapping from motor, could be some air in the cam followers jammed the gauge, have somebody check the gauge make sure it's reading properly

I've used this oil and filter combo before without any trouble.
There were no other symptoms beyond the high oil pressure.


Fearing the worst, I changed out the oil and filter again.

The oil pressure is now back to normal.

I did not have time to tear it apart, but I am guessing the oil filter collapsed, or maybe something with the filter bypass valve?

It was hard watching all that clean expensive oil being dumped.
Basically I did a 400 mile oil flush.

Now all I can do is watch the pressure and hope for the best.
