The ATI Balancer I bought didn't work out, so...if I wanted to use a HiPo balancer on my 65 FB would there be any mods from going from stock, or is a direct bolt on?

I thought they were all direct bolt ons, as long as you get one that has the same number of bolts as your current one. You may need a spacer.

I've heard ATI are good for 7000rpm+ whereas Fluidampr are better at 7000rpm-

I have always bought Fluiddampners and had no problems with them. And yes it is a complete bolt on.

Whats going on with your car Dan? It's Still not up and running??

What I wrote was a little misleading I suppose. I hope no-one took my ratings as a durability thing for either of the dampners. What I meant was that I've heard ATI perform better than anything else over 7000, but Fluidampr are better below that, for a street motor in other words.

I was trying to find out why the ATI didn't work out so that those of us with other dampners might be able to check ours to see if you woud have the same problem. I have a Fluidampnr. The engine is currently out of the car so I can check things or take pics for you if it would help

The ATI is designed for TDC to be on the drivers side. Mine is on the pass. side. We tried just mounting it 180 on the crank and remarking the timing marks on the opposite side. No luck. I don't think the weights lined up correctly or something because the front of the engine was shaking real bad. We put the stock one on just to see, and sure enough it smoothed it right out. So, I just want to get a little something more robust than the stock balancer. This thing sounds pretty mean and I'm sure it's going to lay down some good power. Man, hearing that thing run yesterday was AwEsOmE!!! It is going to be a blast. I can't belive how mean this sucker sounds. Time to seek out some ricers! kidding...well... maybe not

Chris, no its still not on the street. Reason, TCP STILL has the u joints and lower column kits on back order for my rack & pinion kit! It has been 7 weeks since I ordered it. So, my mechanic has been taking his time with my car since I can't drive it anyways. Yesterday they finished up the motor though. So, its just sitting there all ready to go waiting on sorry A$$ TCP to send the parts. The rack sure looks good under the car though.

On a side note, TCP is beyond a doubt the WORSE company I have ever dealt with. 7 weeks waiting on these final few parts and they can't even give me an estimated date as to when I might see the parts. They will not return phone calls or e mails. And when you call them, the attitude is one that coveys they could really care less. In a nut shell, THEY SUCK!!!

Dan,
Here is a pic of my Fluidampnr. It has the marks on the pass side (actually has 2 sets of marks). You can see the timing pointer under the alt bracket. TDC is at about the 11 o'clock mark

Jeeezzzzz, I feel your pain buddy, I've been there before and I am there right now. I struck a deal to trade work with a engine builder to rebuild my 427 stroker and what he originally said was gonna be 3 weeks has been 4 months....can't yell at him as we are trading services, and of course now I've spent the money I had budjeted for the motor on other stuff......I HATE playing the waiting game. Good luck.

Chris

I have used an original "Hi Po" on mine since day one at the track. No problems.

The "goofy guy" is still here and I feel Stangnet is going to start missing the old timers if something is not done and done soon!

Who is moderating this stuff?
