Historical license plates in Ohio

I have a question for anyone living in ohio who has historical plates on their vintage mustang. I am going to be modifying the car and adding disc brakes rack and pinion steering and aftermarket suspension. The question is do I have to get rid of the plates and get regular plates for it?
I talked briefly with my insurance agent about doing these modifications and she said as far as the insurance goes i can do any modifications i want, the only difference being if the value changes i would need to up the coverage. I intend to up the insurance value of my car from 9 grand to 15 grand after all the mods are done. I have added torque thrust wheels and new tires as well.

Your car is a '65, yes? What year will it be after the mods you listed? I believe that is what all states look at when determining if the vehicle qualifies for historic status or not.

Modifications will not change your Historic tag status. Get this, in Missouri historic plates never expire, you are supposed to dispose of them when you sell a vehicle.

Well I sold my 66 and bought it back and guess what, changed the title back over and stuck my plates back on and I am legal, no fees, no VIN ID required, nothing. My neighbor the cop ran my tags and they are sure enough still registered to me and my 66.....

my car is the early 65.... as far as im concerned it will still be an early 65...but with modern safety touches. i am adding TCP front coilover suspension, rack and pinion steering, subframe connectors and adding disc brakes to the front.
when i registered the car at the DMV here i remember the lady (flaming man hating bull dyke) getting pissy with me telling me im only allowed to drive the car to car shows and such not for a sunday ride etc... she said im not allowed to do any modifications to the car etc. I later asked my insurance agent about it as well and she said dont worry about it they dont check for that.
here in ohio historical plates never expire its a one time fee. funny when i was in the DMV registering the car, Shirley Basseys Goldfinger came on in the background which was one of my dads favorite songs. Since i inherited the car from him it was kinda like he was saying hello and have fun with the car.

The modifications has nothing to do with Historical plates....as long as the vehicle is over 25 years old it qualifies for Historical plates.

In Tennessee, they put restrictions as to how the car can be used if it has antique plates on it. They are intended for show car and ones that will be used in parades. I pulled mine when I got the car and put regular ones back on it.

Same with Missouri, we are limited to 1000 personal miles per year + you can drive to shows / events / parades etc. You are supposed to keep a log in your glove box. My neighbor the cop says that the only people that will check this log are state troopers and i have driven by dozens of them without incident.

I probably come close to the 1K miles per year as I only cruise and go 1/4 mile at a time......
