What is the point system for? They don't do that here in Texas.

Here in SC you have I believe 12 points you can accumulate on your license before it is suspended by the state . Most moving violations are done with a point system and they stay that way for 3 years . So in 3 years period if you get more than 12 points your license is gone for 1 year .

I got nailed for tint also. It was by a real prick of a cop. This guy would give his own mom a ticket. No one at the police station likes this guy. They are trying to bump him up to Sergeant so he is off the street. Is that bad or what? Anyway, if I were you I would take the tint off yourself. That's what I did. The tint itself will peel off pretty easily. You just have to be careful and peel it off evenly. The big pain will be the leftover glue residue on your windows. The best product to get it off is Crest HI-SOLV. It's an aerosol spray. You do have to use some elbow grease though. Make sure you do it outside! I did it in my driveway and even then I was getting dizzy from the fumes! This stuff is EXTREAMLY strong and FLAMMABLE! And what ever you do, DO NOT GET ANY ON YOUR CAR!! It WILL TAKE THE PAINT OFF!! I am still undecided on wether or not to put the tint back on. Maybe when I become a cop I will. (If you can't be em, join em right?)

I've got 5% tint over 32% tint on the sides and the back and never got a ticket, the windows are always up even when I drive past cops, Here in HI where I live 4 out of 5 cars have illegal tint.

The best way to remove window tint is the same way it went on. Peel the film itself off, then use dishwashing liquid and water combined with a NYLON scrubber pad to remove the stuff. It's not too difficult, just a pain to get into corners and such.

I got nailed for 20% tint on my sides, although the device said it was 10%. $104 bucks for the ticket. I've never heard of points for tint though.

I told my doctor that I get mirgrains sometime and that the sun makes it worse, so he gave me a State waiver for my tint.

Or you could also make up your own story.

No tickets or points yet.

tint laws

If you want to find out what your state law is go to www.iwfa.com . most of the laws now are net laws which mean just because you have 35% film doesnt mean you are legal due to factory installed tint in the glass so be carefull

Texas laws look pretty good, if I'm reading it right it's 25% for the front side windows and whatever you want on the rear glass. Looks like we're the most lenient aside from Arizona and New Mexico.

I Emailed a lawyer...and I found out why I got hit with the points too... Obstruction of View... How incredibly stupid is that?!?! OBSTRUCTION OF VIEW? Ugh...Stupid. The lawyer told me that if I think I was legal, I should demand a jury trial and pleade not guilty...But I know I was illegal...

Just act like you didn't know. That cop is out to be a complete jackoff, probably got made fun of in school. Make him go to court and see if you can get out of it.

Cool...that site says here in Florida that I can have 28% on the front sides, and 15% on the back sides and rear. I'll probably get 25% all around.
