I have a 98 gt ian i went for the first time to the track with these mods. K@N FIPK 2 msd coil packs and msd 8.5 mm wires, o/r dr. gas x pipe, bbk underdrive 3.73's and pro 5.0 short thro shifter and i hit 14.7 at 94.3 mph. i could not hook up tires suck and it was my first time so i kno i could inmprove. O i also have a superchips 4 banks. 3.73's and nos will for sure get you under 14.00 but i suggest getting a shift kit aslo i don;t kno much about autos but like a performance torque converter and a chip to change your shift points would be best.

do the jerry mod, get a stall and some 4.10 gears. should be low 14s easy and a better foundation to build on.
:stupid: Don't forget the transmission cooler as well. If you decide to go with boost, you might want to get 3.73's instead of 4.10's in that 98 GT. Possibly 3.55's. Unless if you have the PI headswap and PI cams or plan on doing the PI headswap in the future, then you'll have more rpms to deal with and will allow more room for play in higher rpms.

Another thing. Do NOT run beyond a 100 shot on a stock bottom end. If you do, you run the risk of blowing the bottom end of the motor as its not built for boost. To be honest, you can blow it with just a 50 shot if you're not careful. Any kit you get, be sure to get a kit that has a safety switch to cut the nitrous off in the event that your car starts to run lean. This works by hooking the kit up to your front o2 sensors and the moment the o2 amount registers as "lean", the nitrous kit will shut off. I'de also look into getting a custom chip or tune with the nitrous so you get your timing and fuel pressure correct for best results. One more thing. I'de run a dry shot on your car since its a 98 GT. They are bad about puddling nitrous and gas mixture in the intake. Some guys have had this happen and blew their intakes off. Becareful.

EDIT: Is it a dry shot thats recommended for the 96-98 GT's due to puddling or the wet shot that is recommended ? I forget.

im pretty sure the dry kit is recommended to fight fuel puddling since the wet kit sprays the nitrous AND fuel into the intake. a dry system sprays the nitrous into the intake which in turn increases the fuel supply directly from the injectors. its called dry since there is not any fuel being added to the nitrous in the intake.
Thats what I was thanking but I wasn't sure at the moment. Thanks for the clarification.

I have a 03 GT that ran 8.5 in 1\8 and 13.4's in 1\4 with 4:10 gears and pulleys and cold air. I put a 100 shot NX wet kit on it and it went 7.79 in a 1\8 last weekend with terrible bottle pressure. So if I were you I would spay it, because it is the best hp per dollar. Definetly go wet but be precautious on fuel jet size and you will be okay. Also tune for what ever hp shot you go with. :nice:

dont forget to live your life a quarter mile at a time and you always need more nos,now all kidding aside i want the nx plate kit but haven''t heard much about it,in my opinion wet is better and it hits harder.

Front 02s will not work to read if the car is going lean. Lean in nitrous terms is anything above the very low 12s. The fronts will only read a VERY broad range and above/below 14.7. Hit a dyno and get your a/f checked right after you get the kit(doubt you want to spend $300+ on your own wideband). I prefer a wet kit, you can adjust the a/f yourself...it doesn't require you to alter the MAF curve or fuel tables.

Read up, like the others said get a tranny cooler and decide on your own. I prefer wet kits, no need for injectors (which for your level are fine as they are) and easier to tweak the a/f. Get a window switch, 1 step colder copper plugs, nitrous kit and check that a/f.

Just read up on it and good luck... :flag:

Thanks for the information based on the o2 sensors. I didn't know how accurate of a reading the system got from the o2 sensors. I know the Venom kit which I looked at a few years back determined whether the motor was running lean or not by the front o2 sensors. I guess that explains why that kit never did so well on Mustangs.
