Hoarding toilet paper and other stuff

The toilet paper thing is nuts, I agree. It's not just people going crazy buying everything they can get their hands on. I work in a specialty chemical company. We make low volume high value chemicals. We are currently getting hammered by customers double and tripling down on orders. We are shipping partial orders just to try to keep everyone happy. Thing is, just like the people with all the TP, when this is over they aren't going to order anything for 6 months because they have a stock pile. This is insane.

Since Caronavirus is related to SARS and a common cold, I figured Facial tissue would be hoarded, and I suppose Poise and Depends pads for the leak prone.
How bad is this going to be if we have to sneeze from the wrong end?

What I have a hard time figuring out is why people are panic buying food? Especially food with a short shelf life. Panic buying food like the two weeks of food they are buying is gonna keep them safe throughout this whole thing. Can people not see that this is not something they can hide from for a couple of weeks? People need to try to get their fear under control.
Then the other side of that coin are those idiot teenagers and college spring breakers out there partying it up. Or the teens that are going around coughing on fresh produce in stores?
makes you wonder exactly what these people are thinking.

The fact that anybody is surprised by this is also hard to believe. People are idiots. Walk into any story knowing this, and the surprises become much less frequent.

I had to yell (from a distance) at a couple of my younger neighbors for having parties this weekend. Most of the 35+ people in my neighbor seem to be taking this seriously and reducing contact as much as possible.

As a general rule of thumb I try to think the best of people so I don't depress myself. I don't think I can keep that up anymore, the level of self-centeredness and stupidity is mind boggling.

Lol. I am Damn sure done with that aspect of my life. Never did enjoy having some wet behind the ears LT trying to run my Platoon. Now I am Happy keeping my family and friends nice and safe. Plus, I live by my own ROE.

I will Grant you one thing about this whole mess. I have Seen families spending actual quality time together outside more. Taking walks, playing in their yards, and older couples spending time outside with each other as well.
Takes a pandemic to get a lot of people to figure out what’s important in their lives. Lol
