Well my quest to perfect my vert continues....

In the conversion process the 88 A4LD was used and according to the person that did the conversion he had to "redo" a bit of wiring to make it work from the 93 computer.

Does anybody know if in fact the 88 trans is different from the 93 and if being maybe a qusrt low would prevent the converter from going into lockup. There is a wiring labeled "3-4 shift solonoid". I thought this may be the issue but it does go into all four gears.

Basically that's my only issue is it won't go into lockup on the highway. I have my 93 A4LD if I really needed to put it back in but the one works just fine otherwise.

yes, the 93 and 88 A4ld transmissions are different. Both have lock up torque converters, however the 93 had an electronic 3-4 shift where the 88 was a hydroliclly controlled shift. I am having a similar issue because I am using an 88 mustang transmission with a computer that uses the electronic 3-4 shift. I never could get it to lock up. My solution was to ground the torque converter lock up wire coming from the tranny. This forces the torque converter to lock up whenever possible. It works out well because the transmission mechanically prevents the torque converter from locking up in 1st, 2nd, or low rpms in 3rd or 4th. I have had my tranny set up like this for the last 2 years with no problems.

do yerself a favor and get a t5... I've broken 4 a4ld's and the last one had explorer hard parts and a shift kit with a modified valve body... bussted...

it does a much better job at taking up space than it ever did at shifting...

thanks kaotyk but I this is my "cruiser" no mods to be done except mayabe a p&p. I have my other one i'm building.

Does anyone know which/where this wire is on the tranny. I can't find it in any scheumatics.
